Dr Philip Bee, Director of the Oastler Centre in Leeds will speak about his work to assist churches and Christians of all persuasions to engage their faith more fully with economic life in Leeds. 7.30pm at Haxby and Wigginton Methodist Church. Christian Aid present Nick Nightingale and friends who will present a concert entitled, 'A Transport of Delight' using the songs of Flanders and Swann. The evening will be a rich and wonderful blend of music and all the proceeds will go towards Christian Aid. Tickets are only £5.00 including refreshments, and can be obtained from Aroma Coffee Shop, Haxby, Pauline Stonehouse (758803) or Cameron Stirk (768326).

1.30pm at Holy Trinity, Micklegate. York Literature Festival hosts talks on 'Four Disastrous Females in the Bible'. This one focusses on Penelope. Free entry, please pay for refreshments, pamphlets on sale.

11.00am at York Minster. Ecumenical Service of Commemoration of the martyrdom of Oscar Romero, Roman Catholic Archbishop of San Salvador. Presider: His Eminence Cardinal Keith O'Brien, Archbishop of Edinburgh. Preacher: Most Rev. Dr. John Sentamu, Archbishop of York. All are welcome.

11.00am - 1.00pm Acomb Methodist Church will be holding a Souper Soup Lunch. Proceeds go towards Christian Aid. Everyone welcome.
Saturday 27th March
7.30pm A church concert displaying the multifarious talents of various members of Heslington Church. Come and see what unsuspected talent there is in our local personalities. The concert is in aid of chuch funds.

9.30am Easter Monday sponsored walk for Christian Aid - meet at the vicarage. This is the inaugural walk for John Eckersley's lastest book "Alphabetting in East Yorkshire". Sales of the book go towards Christian Aid. 26 walks will take place, so John needs 26 different groups of walkers to take part.
