Heslington Church is a local ecumenical partnership between the Church of England and the Methodist Church together with the Roman Catholic Chaplaincy to the University of York. All services of worship are held jointly between Anglicans and Methodists. This website gives you a glimpse of our church life to help you find fellowship among us and so feel part of this church community. The church serves the local area, which includes the village of Heslington, the surrounding farms, local housing estates and the University of York. We seek to be an open, caring and inclusive church and everyone is welcome to worship with us. The church building is on the edge of the University of York campus, in the village of Heslington, close to the city of York. See here for a map of the location. The church was extended in 1973 and now seats around 250 people. It also has a beautifully decorated side chapel which is used for small services and quiet prayer. |

Baptisms and weddings are conducted in the church frequently. Please contact the clergy for information. The churchyard is open for burials of those resident in the parish or on the membership list of the church. It is possible to inter ashes in the memorial ashes plot for those who have Heslington connections but who are not residents. The usual Diocesan Chancellor's rules apply regarding memorials with the additional ruling that stone may only be of Yorkshire stone, slate, sandstone, or limestone. Fresh (not artificial) flowers may be laid. The bottom three items in the menu on this page are
links to the Chinese, Japanese and Korean pages. If the characters do
not display correctly, find out here how to install
Japanese and Korean fonts. |
