Services

The nature of the church is reflected in our pattern of worship. Normally, the Anglican and Methodist liturgies alternate week by week, with a preacher from the other tradition. Our team of clergy is occasionally supported by visiting preachers from the Methodist Circuit and the Anglican Deanery.

Please see What's on for announcements of special services.

Sunday

8.00 am Holy Communion. This is a quiet service with no hymns. It takes place in the Side Chapel (old Chancel of the church) and lasts around 35-40 minutes.

10.00 am service. This follows a monthly pattern:

1st Sunday
Morning Service (and sometimes baptism). A service of the Word with the sermon being the main focus.
2nd and 4th Sundays
Holy Communion using either rite. Hymns and modern songs are used in this service. The focus is both Word and Sacrament.
3rd Sunday
All Age Worship. A child-friendly service for all ages.
5th Sunday
Healing Service and Holy Communion. A slightly longer service when anyone can receive prayer (and anointing) for healing.

There are activities for children at each of the 10.00 am services and a crèche for the young ones.
Coffee is available afterwards and all are invited to stay.

2.00 pm Korean language service. This service is run by Pastor Hyun Jin Jung from the Korean Methodist Church. It is a service of the Word and includes singing. There are refreshments afterwards in the meeting room and once a month there is a meal.

Pastor Jung can be contacted at 01904 426169 or by email at gunji702@hotmail.com

Thursday

8.45 am Holy Communion takes place in the Side Chapel. It is a meditative service without music.

Friday

8.00 pm Night Prayer is a short service of music, prayer, readings and silence by candlelight. It is student led and very different from your average church service. Many people enjoy the creative and gentle style of worship and find Night Prayer a peaceful way to wind down or refocus after a busy week. You even get hot chocolate and biscuits afterwards!

Communion to those who are housebound
Once a month, a trained member of the congregation takes the Eucharist to those who are unable, for whatever reason, to get to Church. Some who receive, like to see a new face each month; others prefer to have the same person call upon them. It is always a delight to be able to share, and there is always a warm welcome. It is good to hear their news, their joys and their concerns, and to share with them the news of the Church and the parish.
